One of the projects I’ve spent some time on the last couple of weeks is the one I’ve called Unknown Past. It’s an idea I’ve played with for years, but I could never connect the different parts into a cohesive story until a few days ago. I realized I missed a POV character to tie the two narratives together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scientist Siran <\/strong>makes a discovery that casts doubt on the past society has been told for centuries. In the capital, during an especially contemptuous election, the political staffer Tharech <\/strong>is forced to cover for his boss’s sudden disappearance to avoid a political catastrophe for his faction. In space, the navy cadet Isya <\/strong>is in the middle of her last test before graduation when her ship makes first contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The character I felt was missing was Tharech<\/em>. I had always intended for the story to give glimpses into the political world, as the world includes lots of competing clans with different outlooks on the world and life. I had the catalyst, Siran, and I had the explosion of sorta in Isya, I needed Tharech to be able to show the progression of Siran to Isya naturally. I don’t want to give too much away on how.
